Greenwood Construction Project General Information updated 5/26/26

A project to reconstruct Greenwood Blvd from Sussex to Canterbury started in March.  They will be doing two blocks at a time, first the north side lane on Greenwood, and when that is finished, they will do the south side lane.  The entire project is expected to go through the fall (depending on weather delays).

You can access Greenwood in both directions from Sutton.  You can turn right (heading west) or left (heading east).

The North lane of Greenwood is now open from Picadilly heading west all the way to Big Bend.  That means both lanes are open in front of the studio and you can park on either side of the street.

The South lane of Greenwood is closed from Sussex to Kensington.  If you need to head east on Greenwood from the Big Bend end, take Oxford from Big Bend to Kensington and that will allow you to turn right on Greenwood.

If you win the parking lot lotto, you will need to be in the south lane of Greenwood heading east in order to make a right into the driveway.  You cannot turn left into the driveway from the north lane heading west.

Parking ideas

South side of Greenwood from Kensington all the way to Canterbury is open for parking.

North side of Greenwood from Picadilly to Sussex.

Other options are some of the cross streets -- Sussex has parking on the east side of the street -- Kensington on the west side -- St Elmo on the east side and also Picadilly.

East side of Sutton north of the railroad tracks. You will need to walk across the tracks and Greenwood to get to the studio.

North side of Pacific Ave north of the railroad tracks. You will need to walk across the tracks and Greenwood to get to the studio.

Gravel area north of railroad tracks to the west of Sutton.

Coming from Canterbury on the East end

There is no west bound traffic on Greenwood from Canterbury.

If you are coming from the Canterbury end turn onto Tennyson Square, then right on Commonwealth and right on Cambridge.  Take Cambridge to Picadilly and turn left on Greenwood.

An opportunity for yoga off the mat

This situation reminds me of when they closed highway 64/40 for two years and I think most of us were initially a bit freaked out, then after the first couple weeks we all learned our way around.  "The only constant in the universe is change" -- even though most of us are uncomfortable with change.  May we all take some deep breaths, allow a little extra time and go with the flow.
